The main function of a spring safety valve is to provide overpressure protection, preventing excessive pressure in pressure vessels or pipelines from damaging the entire system. Generally, safety valves are installed on pressure vessels or pressure pipeline bypasses to achieve overpressure protection. Due to different medium flow rates, the diameter of the safety valve should be calculated based on its size to meet the flow requirements. After calculation, the safety valve manufacturer completes the production and conducts tests on its constant pressure and airtightness performance. After passing the tests, it is sent to the user.

Based on the analysis of the opening action characteristics of the spring type safety valve, it can be concluded that under the action of external force FW, the variation law of the external force FW during the entire process of a safety valve from closing to opening, and then from opening to closing, when the additional force gradually increases from zero and the sum of the internal pressure PL × S is exactly the spring pre tension force, the valve slightly opens, increasing the medium action area S, causing the internal pressure force used to overcome the spring pre tension force to increase sharply, resulting in a momentary decrease in the external force. Thus, the first characteristic peak A appears. When the external force gradually decreases and reaches the closing point, due to the sudden decrease in the area of the medium's action, in order to maintain the balance of forces, the external force will experience an instantaneous rebound phenomenon, which is the second characteristic peak point B. The above two characteristic peaks A and B are the technical basis for detecting the opening pressure and reseating pressure of the safety valve under online conditions.
