Installation, Maintenance, and Precautions for Safety Valves
-
A safety valve is a protective valve whose closure element remains normally closed under external force. When the pressure of the medium inside the equipment or pipeline rises and exceeds the specified value, it automatically opens, discharging the medium outside the system to prevent the pressure from exceeding the set limit. Safety valves belong to the category of automatic valves and are primarily used in boilers, pressure vessels, and pipelines to control pressure within the specified range, playing a crucial role in protecting personal safety and equipment operation.he main safety valve product names of China Safety Valve Network include:900 DIN Safety Valve,Air Compressor Safety Valve,A69Y Main Safety Valve,(W Series) Welding Safety Valve,Anti-sulfur Spring Type Safety Valve,ANSI Bellows Safety Valve,Air, Gas ValveAmmonia-used Safety Valve,A28X Air Compressor Safety Valve,AD Safety Valve Muffler,Bellows Spring Fall Lift Safety Valve,Built-in Safety Valve,Butterfly Spring Type Safety Valve
Based on the lift height of the valve disc, safety valves can be classified into low-lift safety valves and full-lift safety valves. The opening stroke height of a low-lift safety valve is ≤0.05d0 (minimum discharge throat diameter), while that of a full-lift safety valve is ≤0.25d0 (minimum discharge throat diameter).
In terms of structural design, safety valves are mainly categorized as dead-weight type, lever type, spring type, and pilot-operated (impulse type). Based on valve body construction, they can be divided into enclosed and non-enclosed types. Enclosed safety valves discharge the medium without leakage, directing it entirely to a designated location through the outlet. They are commonly used for toxic and corrosive media. For safety valves handling air and steam, the non-enclosed type is often preferred. The selection of safety valve products should be based on the actual sealing pressure. For spring-type safety valves, within a nominal pressure (PN) range, there are several working pressure levels for the springs. When placing an order, in addition to specifying the safety valve model, name, medium, and temperature, the sealing pressure of the valve body should also be indicated; otherwise, the valve will be supplied with the maximum sealing pressure.
The following points should be observed during the installation and maintenance of safety valves:
All safety valves should be installed vertically.
There should be no obstruction at the outlet of the safety valve to avoid pressure buildup.
Safety valves should be specifically tested and their sealing performance inspected before installation.
Regular inspections should be conducted on safety valves in use.
